Persistence in Home Buying

One of the hardest things I have to do as an agent is call a buyer and tell them that their offer was not chosen, and that they didn’t get the house they were so excited about. It is heart breaking on every level.

Our spring market has been going fast and furious for about three weeks. Homes are receiving multiple offers within hours. It is very competitive, especially in the lower price ranges. You have to be really aggressive with what you are offering in regards to price and contingencies.

So, how do you deal with this as a buyer? First and foremost, always remember that if it is meant to be, it will be.  As trite as that sounds, it really is true.  Once you have everything all unpacked and you are settled into your new home, you will realize there was a reason why you didn’t get that first house, or even that second one.

Stay persistent, don’t give up, and most importantly, don’t lose hope.  The right home is out there!  More inventory will be coming out as the weather warms up, and hopefully it won’t be such a frantic pace. But in the meantime, make sure your agent is working closely with your lender so that they can have a great strategy in place to set you apart from other buyers. Also make sure that you are getting emails from your agent directly from the MLS.  This way, you are notified as soon as a home is listed or is in “Coming Soon” status. Then, be sure to act fast and see the home as quickly as possible.
