Take Care of These Before It Gets Too Cold

I know that it doesn’t feel like autumn out there yet, and I myself, have been putting off my fall yard work because it is still so hot.  But now is the time to do the following tasks before the snow starts falling or it is too cold to be outside.

Clean Gutters and Downspouts

Inspect roof for damage and rotted wood on the exterior of your home

Shut off and winterize exterior hose bibs- don’t forget this! You don’t want a pipe to burst.

Caulk around windows and doors and any wood trim that you can reach

Rake leaves, trim bushes and trees so that they aren’t touching the house

Inspect and clean your chimney/fireplace

Have your HVAC serviced to prepare for the heating season

Check insulation in attic and crawl spaces

Prepare your snow blower, buy rock salt and make sure you have a shovel

If you aren’t sure how to do any of these tasks, please feel free to reach out to me.  I can walk you through it or recommend a contractor that can help.  A little preventative maintenance goes a long way.
